This place was accepted as a 'fevkani' (a special place of worship for Ottomans where situated in districts where educated people live) and the ground floor of the mosque served as madrassah and the upper floor of it served as a place of worship. The facade architecture of the building and decorations on the interior walls are worth to see. Kemeralti is one of the most striking complexes in the region of bazaar.
The building was began to be renovated in March of 2012 under the sponsorship of Izmir Chamber of Commerce in accordance with the protocol under the ownership of Izmir Regional Directorate of Foundations and was opened to public in September of the same year. The most serious problems of the building, humidity, moisture and insulation problems were solved in accordance with restoration techniques. The outbuilding in the garden of the structure was removed and a new lavatory was built here and landscaping was done. Cleaning and completion works were applied to the exterior walls of the building. The bottom parts of the building that had been considered to be used as madrassah, were made available to the original functionality. Cleaning, strengthening and partial retouching were made in the interior part of the mosque. All decorations and motifs were covered and preserved. In addition, paint sculpter was performed for the parts that had been encrusted in time and special and original motifs were revealed.
